Covid and Silent Night

‘Silent Night’ the script, was conceived December 2018 (pre covid). ‘Silent Night’ the production, wrapped March 2020 (pre UK lockdown) with pick-ups end of August 2020. ‘Silent Night’ the edit, was completed November 2020 (pre administration of the covid vaccine).

‘Silent Night’ references a fictional LIFE ENDING suicide pill NOT a real LIFE SAVING vaccine.

‘Every real solution is reached by intense suffering’ – Carl Jung.

Silent Night debates – fear of suffering versus suffering for others. With the use of a fictional metaphor (‘Exit’) intended to question our trust in an immoral government (see ‘Brexit’).

The character of ART understands that even grown ups make mistakes (see ‘Boris Johnson’ and ‘Donald Trump’ for reference). Therefore ART is questioning – should those in charge of him (his parents, the government) be allowed to choose whether he lives or dies and if so, do they have all the information to hand in order to make the right decision.

ART is NOT doubting the reliance of medical science, he is asking, how reliable is the distribution of environmental scientific information during a state of emergency, triggered by an unprecedented environmental disaster.

The ‘EXIT pill’ is issued as an emergency protocol in order to avoid a painful death from the environmental gases. Not as a government conspiracy but as a solution to avoid ‘suffering’. The ending is intended to represent hope for the younger generation and courage to face fear in order to find a solution.

On a personal note, myself, my husband and our children are Covid vaccinated. Therefore, I ask, to those who misinterpret the film, please stop misrepresenting the film on my behalf.

Thank you. Camille Griffin.
